DEARDORFF APPLE CRISP
Prep Time: 1 Hour
Yields: 6–8 Servings
Comment:
This recipe came from our good friends, Lin and Bonnie Deardorff, owners of Deardorff Orchards & Vineyards in Waconia, MN. When they went searching for a plot of land to grow a garden in 1980, they got more than they bargained for. Today, their 80 acres has grown into 120 acres with 4,000 apple trees.
Ingredients for Topping:
½ cup melted butter
1 cup flour
½ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ tsp vanilla (optional)
¼ tsp ground coriander (optional)
Ingredients for Filling:
2 pounds (6–8) apples, peeled, cored and chopped
½ cup granulated sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
Method:
Preheat oven to 425°F. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients for topping and set aside. In a separate mixing bowl, stir together apples, sugar and cinnamon. Pour filling mixture into a 9” x 13” baking pan then spread topping mixture over the apple mixture. Bake 20 minutes. Reduce oven heat to 350°F then bake 20 additional minutes.
